Engineering Technician - Construction Services

GTEC, LLC is seeking a Construction Engineering Technician. The individual will assist in performing field and laboratory testing of aggregates, soils, concrete, asphalt, steel, and masonry materials.

Qualified candidates must have over 1 year of relevant experience, HS diploma, Capability of lifting 40 to 50 lbs. Current ACI and Nuclear Gauge Certification is preferred.  This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of GTEC’s Substance Policy, Fleet Management Program, and Reference Check Program. Only qualified candidates with acceptable employment authorization will be considered.

Typical assignments and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Review of civil, architectural, and structural plans and specifications in preparation of field site visits and observations.

  • Documentation of field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications.

  • Testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, steel, and masonry.

  • Effective Communication of field and laboratory observations and testing results with construction team.

  • An understanding of professionalism, in relation to interaction with all members of the design and construction team, including (but not limited to) site laborers, project owners, site superintendents, architects, design engineers, and project managers.

  • Willingness to obtain certifications in the fields of soil, concrete, aggregate, asphalt, steel, and masonry, required. 

·         Be proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, software.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to work and maneuver equipment (such as a loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven ground and around active construction sites.

  • Willingness to travel out-of-town (and overnight) for short duration assignments.

  • Ability to routinely lift ~50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment) required.

  • Meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements, Substance Policy, and Reference Check
