To apply for the Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 760 5-year apprenticeship program in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, you must meet strict structural eligibility guidelines and provide specific documentation.
The program generally conducts an annual Application Week (typically in early June). Applications must be picked up and returned in person at the Training Center during this window.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Age: You must be at least 18 years of age by the time you enter the program.
- Education: You must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.
- Physical Capability: You must be able to perform the physical work demanded by the piping trades.
Required Documentation
When submitting your application packet in person, you must provide copies of the following documents (incomplete packets are typically rejected):
- Valid Driver’s License
- Official High School Diploma or GED Certificate (along with GED test results)
- Official High School Transcript of Grades reflecting a full four years of work
- Military Veterans: A copy of your DD214 form (if applicable)
- Certifications: Proof of any current trade certifications, such as OSHA 10, or any relevant college transcripts.
The Selection Process
- Aptitude Testing: Qualified applicants are scheduled to take a two-part written exam testing Math (Numerical Ability) and Mechanical Aptitude. A minimum composite passing score of 75% is usually required.
- Committee Interview: Applicants who pass the aptitude test will be scheduled for a formal interview with the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC).
- Ranking Pool: Accepted applicants are placed on a competitive waitlist and selected as work opportunities open up with union contractors.
