EQUIPMENT OPERATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

For the following Equipment: Bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, roller, off-road dump truck, skid steer, grader.

 

Job Duties and Tasks:

·        The work week is 5–10-hour days with an occasional Saturday.

·        Complete the Pre-Operational Inspection for Mobile Equipment and turn in to supervisor.

·        May fasten attachments and connect hydraulic hoses, belts, etc to provide power to attachments.

·        Operates controls to manipulate tool bars, carriers and disks.

·        Operates controls to maneuver equipment, lower and tilt attachments to clear right of way.

·        Know and monitor the blind spots of the equipment you are operating.

·        Monitor and confirm the overhead power line locations while under construction.

·        Monitor the workflow progress and delays during the shift.

·        Identify all underground conflicts prior to digging and pot holing.

·        Assist with end of the day clean up.

 

Job Activities:

 

·        Performing General Physical Activities:  Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is

 

frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell. 

 

Job Skills Required:

 

·        Have a valid Driver’s license.

·        Sound understanding of the pertinent safety guidelines.

·        Ability to measure accurately and read drawings.

·        1,000 hours of hands-on experience as an operator.

·        Ability to work as part of a Team.

 

Knowledge, Experience, and Education Required:

 

·        Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.

·        1 to 3 years of experience of means and methods and tools involved in the construction.

·        A minimum education of a high school diploma or GED.
